"We were were very impressed with this course. We do a lot of courses with Craft Courses.com and this came up trumps. I have to say that my wife was far better at throwing pots than I was. There is, of course, no competition between us. Richard is knowledgeable and patient. There is clearly a knack - that I didn't have. I got on better with the hand building in the afternoon. The vegetable soup at lunch was excellent. We have left Richard to fire our pots and he will glaze them as well as we can't return to complete the process - included in the price we will need to pay for shipping. We await a parcel of finished pots in due course. Do hesitate this is an excellent course and we highly recommend it."

"Just had the most enjoyable day at potterydayz. My friends and I were all complete beginners but by the end of the day we had proudly achieved thrown pots on the wheel as well as learning how to coil clay into hand built pots. "Such fun! Really enjoyed our day. My daughter and I were engrossed from beginning to end, and found the whole day so interesting and relaxing. And we devoured the delicious soup and bread too! "The experience with Richard was really really great! It was a calm and tranquil atmosphere, very informal and explorative. Richard gives clear and concise directions, yet still allows you to be creative. He’s very friendly and approachable. We learnt two pottery techniques and it just made us want to go back. Will definitely recommend to others, and go back to do it myself!! The experience would be a perfect gift for others!! The soup was also fabulous!"

Lots of fun and we all came out enthused with some pretty decent attempts on the wheel - even if 5 /6 of us were left handed ( a bit of a challenge on a right handed wheel). "This was a birthday present for my husband, Trevor, and it was a big hit! Richard's patience and excellent guidance has spurred Trevor on to sign up for a course. Although I was there mainly to accompany Trevor, I really enjoyed the experience. Richard is so knowledgeable and interesting and he is an expert teacher so we both managed to make some pots. We can't wait to come back and glaze them and we will want to sign up to the Raku day in May. In addition, there was plenty of tea and coffee on hand and the soup at lunchtime was delicious. All in all it was a great day and we shall definitely recommend the experience to our friends."

"Richard has a wealth of knowledge and passion for pottery and he is very welcoming of everyone! I had no idea what to expect from this course as I have never seen pots fired this way so it was very exciting to see how quickly after painting your pots they were out the kiln and cooling. To be able to take them home the same day was amazing! Can't wait for the opportunity to hone in on this technique again now that I have a better understanding of this type of firing. The lunch was equally as wonderful as the company... I'm vegan which I let Richard and his partner know beforehand and they were very understanding and accommodating. I will definitely be doing other courses with Richard and I highly recommend others do the same :)"

"Just had a fantastic day, really enjoyed it. Richard is a very patient, skillful and knowledgable teacher. He was even able to get a left hander to throw a pot right handed, which was a challenge for me and probably him but he didnt show it. I cannot rate this course or the lovely lunch especially the beetroot highly enough. If your considering this course but not sure, go for it. Its relaxing, informative and fun. I highly recommend it."

"I had a fantastic day learning to hand build and throw with Richard in his studio. I came to the workshop wanting to learn how to properly throw whilst also identifying and fixing some bad habits I had developed! Richard was fabulous, a knowledgeable and hands on teacher, he talked me through some hand building warm ups before moving on to throwing techniques and tips. Then whilst I was throwing he was super patient and helped me actually throw some ‘proper’ pots! The whole day was relaxing and I have learnt so much in such a short period. If you are unsure if this is the workshop for you – don’t be!"

"I had a fantastic day's workshop with Richard in his studio. I've been learning pottery and wanted some more intensive tuition on throwing. Richard is a brilliant teacher, very patient and expressive, and the environment was really relaxing, so I felt like I was able to learn a great deal in a short period. It really helped me gain confidence. I really appreciated the tea and homemade soup for lunch, too. Oh and Richard also plays mean blues harmonica! Thanks so much."

Richard is very visual In his teaching, clearly demonstrating with his hands how to use them as effective pottery tools. Learning about the two pottery methods (hand building and throwing) and getting the chance to get 'hands on' and creative finished the day off nicely.
