Tony Read reviewed: Beginners 1-day 1-2-1 woodturning workshop for 1 person

"I had a wonderful day learning about wood turning with Simon. A very relaxed experience, in the morning I made a practice piece and a beautiful keyring , followed by a lovely lunch . In the afternoon , the second project was turning a bowl, on both projects Simon guided me when needed so I didn't make any mistakes, both items are proudly displayed and a great talking point. I would highly recommend a visit to Simon, a great teacher , and the studio is in a lovely location . Thank you to simon and Louise for being so friendly and welcoming. I look forward to more turning in the future. "

Jo reviewed: Beginners Traditional Stained Glass 2 Day Course

"I completed a 2 day course with Gill last month. It was a very unique experience and I hugely benefitted from a one to one course. Gill is a delightful, calm & professional tutor, & easy to communicate with prior to my visit. We had a great couple of days and I learned new skills (as I’d completed small leaded panels & copper foil before). Gill was very generous with her time & very patient with me as I’m a bit slow! Gills’ studio is a very comfortable place to create & the fabulous cooked breakfast from the cafe was delicious and plentiful. Thank you Gill so much, this was a really positive & enjoyable experience in gorgeous surroundings with such a lovely atmosphere. I hope to attend again before too long!"

Holly reviewed: Woodworking Machinery Techniques and use.

"I had a fantastic time on this course! Ted made me a bespoke, extended version of this, going into a higher level of depth and a wider range of machinery whilst making a jewellery box. Ted was really helpful, encouraging, and an excellent tutor. Outstanding value for a day of 1:1 tuition; I can't recommend it highly enough, and I hope to go back for more! "

Teds Woodworking/ instrument making Courses responded:

"Thank you for your kind words Holly it was my pleasure to see you work so methodical especially your attention to detail. I have no doubt about your ability to grasp woodworking principles and I look forward to seeing you soon friend. Kind regards Ted 👍👍😎"

Marije reviewed: Spoon carving taster session

"My friend and I had such an enjoyable afternoon. I found the idea of using an axe quite daunting but Dave was a great tutor. I loved working with the tools and it is mesmerising how a spoon emerges from a block of wood. I am proud of the spoon I carved, and we are planning another session! I can also recommend combining with lunch in nearby No 3 Heworth and it is surprisingly walkable to the city centre."

Angus Burnside reviewed: Five day woodwork course - tools

"I've just finished this course and it was a great experience! Mark is a great teacher and extremely knowledgeable on everything about woodworking! I'd recommend this for everyone from beginners to people who already know a little and are looking to learn more as there were so many tips and techniques and things I learnt! Although you are choosing from a list of projects you then can be as creative as you like and I felt I came away with a usable and unique piece of furniture that I'm proud of and could never have made without Marks help. I'm definitely going to return in the future for the second course. 10/10 week. "

Karl Murphy reviewed: Blacksmithing - one to one - Hammer Skills

"Myself and son did a day with Bob , it was a great day well worth it . I had a few delays booking a date but Bob was very helpful . The day was great , Bob explains things well , easy going and very knowledgeable. You are busy all day and it's well worth the experience. Bob shows you different methods in the morning and in the afternoon is where it all comes together and you make things you can take home . The best coarse myself and son have done and Bob makes a good brew "

"Really enjoyable day with Kate. Stepping stone now on display in garden. You don't have to be artistic to produce a lovely piece of work, sometimes the most random designs look best."

Jacqui R reviewed: Stained Glass Panel Workshop with April Pebble

"Fabulous teaching and encouragement. Lots of choice of glass. April allowed me to create my own design within her teaching parameters. The class wasn’t too big. The only negatives was quite a high bench to work on and the actual studio was hard to find."

Tanya reviewed: Block Printing on fabric in Derbyshire.

"I had a great day learning a new skill from scratch. Liz is an excellent, knowledgeable and encouraging teacher. The pace was just right and the environment calming. It felt like a real break from normal hectic life. From the beginning it was hands on and coming away with my very own designed and printed t-towel was brilliant. I can really recommend the experience."

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Tanya, Good to hear from you and thanks for letting me know about your day at The Slipper Studio - it was great working with you. It’s great to take the time out of a busy life and be creative, and block printing is a really immersive process - plus lots of fun. You created some lovely outcomes, which I hope you can add to. It’s so satisfying that with just a few pieces of equipment and materials, you can create so many unique pieces. Happy printing. Liz Wellby "

"Phil is a knowledgeable and patient teacher and the course is super engaging and fun! It was so great to get a general overview of the history of chain maille and go on to learn the process from beginning to end, ultimately putting together our own small chain maille piece. Phil and his family were incredibly welcoming and I highly recommend this course, especially to anyone with an interest in historic crafts, metalworking or historical re-enactment. "

"Thanks Maria, glad you enjoyed the course and thanks for all the interesting questions throughout the day!"
