Introduction to metal sculpture

X

Description

A weekend course aimed at total beginners who want to try something different, run by myself and fellow sculptor David Mayne, we've both been professional sculptors for over 30 years. We run the course from our studios at Sculpture Lounge, home to 21 different artists in the Pennine village of Holmbridge. Priced at £360 per person, we work with a maximum of four people to enable as much contact time as possible. On a typical course we take you through the various stages of making a sculpture including an introduction to Mig Welding, plasma cutting and various power tools to enable you to make your own piece of sculpture. I've been a professional sculptor since leaving art college in 1988. My work is usually quite light hearted, based on cartoons, children's books, my childhood tv watching, in fact anything really. I quite often use recycled metal in my sculptures, something I've done since the materials budget ran out at art college. I make public art, gallery work, do commissions and have worked in hundreds of schools over the years.
