Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

** If you are wishing to book more than 2 spaces, please make contact and I will give you the dates with current availability - thank you 😊👍 ** On this fun filled and absorbing one day Hare Sculpture workshop you will sculpt your very own moon-gazing or ‘in motion’ hare to take home! No experience is needed as Jo guides you through every step. Your hare sculpture will be weather proof and can live outside! We start with a steel stand and aluminium wire armature which has been pre-made for you (although later in the day we will make an armature together so you can understand the technique). You can easily move features of the armature to your own personalised ‘pose’, making every sculpture completely unique. At this stage you can also place a personal message into the heart of your hare (poignant for moon gazing hares), or you can include a lock of hair, cremation ashes etc. The body of the hare is shaped with aluminium foil over the wire armature and you have total control over how skinny or chubby your hare is. You then add a layer of waterproof plaster, with a final coat of weather resistant bronze colour and ‘kiss’ of gilding cream to bring your sculpture to life (the magic moment!). Depending on the pose you have chosen (and whether ears are up or down), your sculpture will stand between 25 - 30 centimetres high and weigh about 1 kilo. The sculptures are weather resistant so pop your hare outside to moon-gazing or leap about your garden or patio! There may be a choice to upgrade the size of hare to a medium (50cm) size. Jo Garden Art's rural workshop is modern with air conditioning, spacious and bright, set in beautiful quiet countryside just outside the village of Hepworth on the Suffolk/Norfolk border. It's within easy reach of Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge for those of you having a break in the area. The Jo Garden Art sculpture kits to make at home or for gifts will be available to take away at discounted prices. Our workshops are friendly, fun and relaxing aimed at all age groups from the age of 14 onwards (children from 14 to 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult). What's included in the price?

All materials are included for your sculpture (please note there is a £5 surcharge payable on the day for the leaping or running hare versions). If available, upgrades to larger hare sizes have an extra charge (availability & price provided closer to the workshop date). Aprons are provided, but please wear old clothes and shoes as there is a mucky moment! Each student has access to their own set of tools (so no waiting for others to finish!). Tea, coffee, water and snacks are available throughout the day. Please bring your own packed lunch. Fridge space is available. We have three acres of grounds to stretch your legs (probably accompanied by our friendly Cockapoos).

Welcome 😃 I'm Jo Garden. I call myself a 'facilitator' as my joy is enabling people of any skill to achieve something they did not expect, plus have time away from the everyday stresses of normal life. My sculpture & slate mosaic workshops are broken down into small stages which result in amazing sculptures and works of art regardless of your artistic ability (honestly). If you purchase a kit, there is a full length video of me making the sculpture which you can watch as many times as you wish. If attending a workshop, my peaceful studio is tucked into the garden surrounded by trees and wildlife making it a very tranquil and stress busting. I run several workshops a month but am often booked up for months in advance. If you book a long way in the future, I do make contact if I have cancellations and can move you forward.
