Description

The next scheduled workshop is 5th/6th October, however if you would like to book a workshop for a date sooner please contact me to discuss your options. Treat your feet and make a pair of hand felted wool slippers, perfect for keeping your toes toasty in the colder months. Learn new skills and leave with beautiful wearable art! Felted wool slippers offer luxurious comfort and health giving for your feet, offering natural insulation and breathable temperature regulation. As they are worn, the felted wool will mould to the shape of each foot adding further comfort to the wearer. The wearing of wool slippers against the skin is also said to helps to stimulate blood circulation! During the workshop you’ll make a pair of seamless felt slippers in a slipper style of your choice; be it slip on mules or clog slipper shoe with a heel blast height of your choosing. Your slippers can be plain, patterned, multi-coloured or incorporate fabric & fibres to add interesting texture features. This is a great opportunity to learn several new techniques during a two day workshop and apply them to creating a finished project. The felting techniques you will use include…wet felting, seamless felting, creating a hollow form, shaping, fulling & blocking a 3d form, with the option of needle felting design elements. During the workshop you will * Be working with Corriedale batts / sliver * Plan & design your own unique slippers * Learn how to measure & create a template for your feet * Understand how to calculate the shrinkage * Make a resist pattern * Learn how to layout the wool fibres * Block the slippers for a professional finish * Have the option to further embellish your slippers * Understand types and methods to add non-slip soles. You will have access to a selection of fibres & yarns to embellish the slippers with, please do feel welcome to bring along any inclusions of your own to add too. PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is suitable for those with experience / a solid foundation of felt making experience and wish to develop their skills further. Felting is physical and requires some stamina and upper arm strength. The workshop takes place over 1.5 days, starting at 10am and runs until 4pm, (participants are asked to arrive at 9:45am for a 10am start) and the following day 10am - 1pm. If you have any questions, please get in touch for more information or queries about bookings messaging via the 'message the tutor' button.
