Enjoy a day learning to weave with expert tutor Sarah who will demonstrate and set you on your way with the weaving technique. The class will take place in our 100sqm craft barn where you will take in the beautiful surrounding views of Hanwell Wine Estate for inspiration. What you will learn – Making your loom frame using willow Frame set it up Material choices Weaving techniques The workshop is a sociable introduction to weaving and includes a homemade 2-course lunch served with local wine, plus refreshments throughout the day. All tools and materials for the day will be provided, so just bring yourself! Outline of your time with us: Arrival with refreshments and meet your tutor Sarah Introduction to tools and materials. Loom building Personal planning, colour selection, size and shape. 2-course lunch with local wine. Continue where you left off Tea break Review end result and wrap up Departure with your creation in hand Depending on the complexity of your design you may not complete it in the day but you will take the frame with you to continue your project. Weaving is a satisfying versatile hobby, create table mats, wall hangings, purses and handbags from materials like ribbons, plastic, string, boucle or rovings (unspun wool). About your tutor Sarah Sarah is an experienced weaver and mosaic artist and is passionate about the creative arts. She loves being involved in community projects and has since November 2017, her passion for weaving and mosaics to create a company logo in December 17 seen her take on many commission pieces since 2018 and runs different craft workshops. She values the positive impact the creative arts can have on reducing social isolation, and in increasing confidence and general well-being. Overall, Sarah is a fun maker and creative, with a relaxed approach. To ensure the quality of your personal experience, group size will be limited to 8.
