Immerse yourself in a full day of hands-on jewellery casting and wax carving, where you’ll explore a range of traditional techniques to create truly unique pieces. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, this experience offers an in-depth journey into melted metal, textures, and sculpting. With expert guidance every step of the way, you’ll learn how to shape and cast metal using various methods, ensuring each piece is crafted to a high professional standard. Ana Simões is an accomplished jeweller and experienced educator, with a background in both traditional and contemporary techniques. She has taught at leading institutions including the Arts University Plymouth, Plymouth University, and the University of Exeter. Ana’s workshops combine technical expertise with an encouraging, hands-on approach, helping participants develop both their skills and their unique artistic voice. What to Expect: - Casting Techniques: Experiment with sand casting, Delft clay casting, and cuttlefish bone casting, each offering its own distinctive textures and effects. - Wax Carving: Sculpt your design in wax, which can then be cast in metal. - Create Multiple Pieces: Design and cast rings, pendants, charms, or sculptural jewellery using a mix of techniques. - Cast stones in place: Experiment with casting metal around beautiful gemstones. - Professional Finishing: Your pieces will be cleaned, polished, and refined to a beautiful, high-quality finish. This is a full-day creative experience, where you’ll leave with a beautifully cast, personally crafted jewellery piece—one that carries the energy of fire, metal, and your own craftsmanship. ☕ Tea, coffee, and cake will be provided throughout the day to keep you refreshed. As this is a long, hands-on experience, I recommend bringing your own lunch to enjoy during our break.

What's included in the price?

The price includes all tools, jeweller's wax and 10 grams of silver to cast with. Other metals, gemstones, and hallmarking are charged separately, allowing you to fully customise your final piece. You're very welcome to bring your own jewellery or gemstones if there's anything you'd like to repurpose or recycle.
