Stitching The Stillness - slow-stitch landscape project with Helen Hallows

X

Description

The course will guide you through gathering ideas, collecting fabrics and using paint and print to create a background for you to stitch on. Allowing the textures of the cloth to help create landscape and the stitch to fuse layers together, the entire process will be one of permission to slow down, and engage with the meditative process of slow stitch. This will be an exploration in colour, texture, shape and stitch.

What's included in the price?

You create an intuitive collage of fabrics, then use a simple hand stitch, to add image and detail. As you go along you decide what stitches to use, add colours and create a unique textile piece. What do you do with it? You can frame it, make it into something, or keep it in your soul space to remind you of the peace and clarity of creating it. It is an intuitive, peaceful process that isn't rushed and takes you on a journey of creativity. What you will learn on this course: Design process to create a winter landscape Painting and stamping fabric Working intuitively to capture the essence of nature Working in a palette to express the season Slow stitching with intention, creating stillness in yourself as you stitch through the season. I've planned the content to give you a full weekend of creativity to kickstart a hand-stitch project that you can give as much time as you would like to. You will end the course with a set of cards that you can swap with other creatives or use to build your own oracle (affirmation) card deck.

Hello! I am Helen. Over the time of my creative work I realised I take great enjoyment from processing ideas in sketchbooks, gathering and using sketchbooks as starting points for future projects. I can help you get past the fear of the white page. I can help you fall in love with creative process. I can help you stop being obsessed with the end point of art and find a step by step way to creative flow. Each workshop covers a part of what I do - making sketchbooks, drawing with confidence, printing pattern - all inspired by the wonders of nature. I want you to come away from a class feeling empowered and excited about the potential of your creativity.
