FAQs
Help yourself to tea, coffee and biscuits from the kitchen. Lunch isn’t provided, but we're in the heart of Brixham, and there are loads of cafes, supermarkets and delis for you to try out or bring a packed lunch.
Details of timings for this course are listed above. Please try to be on time!
Everyone learns at their own pace. If you haven't quite finished your creation at the end of the course, it doesn't matter. I will give you instruction on how you can complete it at home, or you are welcome to come along to the next 'Bitch and Stich' class free of charge where I will help you finish. If you are very fast I normally also have some extensions to the project to keep you entertained!
Most of my courses are for small groups of only 4 people. That allows you to have plenty of 1-on-1 teaching, your own machine and plenty of space.
Yes, I have a fleet of sewing machines, overlockers and even a cover stich machine and all sorts of other fun toys, all included within the price of the course. You are welcome to bring your own machine, but I might not be able to help you with its functions!
Unfortunately there is a single flight of relatively steep stairs to enter the workroom. If you can manage these (nice and slowly if necessary!) then you can stay in place all day.
The Workroom is right next to the main bus station in Brixham, where Stagecoach bus 12 runs every few minutes to Paignton, Torquay and Newton Abbot, connecting to rail services.
I recommend parking in the Marina or Harbour public car parks. These are large long-stay car parks and clearly signed as you approach the town. From either car park it is a short and very pleasant walk along the harbourside to Fore Street and the Workroom. Note that these are pay and display car parks.
This course will be taught at The Workroom – located at 6A Fore Street in the centre of Brixham. This is my custom-designed sewing studio, with huge amounts of space for us to spread out and enjoy sewing. There’s an enormous cutting table, plenty of easy-to-use sewing machines, comfy sofas for hand sewing and chatting, a sumptuous dressing room, mannequins, haberdashery and loads more.
