Pottery throwing in Buxton

Throwing at Earth Pig

Our studio is located in The Green Man Gallery.
The classes at Earth Pig Pottery are very flexible and cater for beginners and intermediate throwers.

Beginning throwers will focus on centring the clay and making a basic cylinder, later expanding this to other forms based on this. The object will be to make a pot that you want to keep.

The studio is well-equipped with three wheels, slab roller, extruder and kiln. Due to the limited space we can accommodate no more than three students at one time. This gives plenty of time for one-to-one guided tuition.

Students can book sessions from one to three hours. Cost is £20 per person per hour.

Please note: our studio is on the first floor and access is by stairs only.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

All materials (clay, decorating slip etc).
Use of wheels, tools, aprons and other equipment.
Firing of a single pot (extra pots can be left with us and fired at a small cost).
A throwing demonstration.
Full tuition and guidance.

Geoff was a great teacher, me and my partner threw our first pot very successfully. It is great value for money compared to other Pottery courses I have seen. I would wholeheartedly recommend that anyone try this with their family and/or friends if they are interested, it makes for a perfect day out.
