Description

In this hands-on jewellery workshop, you’ll design and make your own sterling silver spinner ring. You’ll create a wide band paired with a spinning band, personalised with a small design of your choice. Before working in silver, you’ll practise and explore techniques using copper to build confidence and skill. The workshop covers essential jewellery-making skills including soldering, piercing, forming, sizing, finishing and polishing. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with new practical skills and a beautifully crafted, tactile ring to wear and enjoy. The workshop is led by an experienced jewellery and DT teacher with a BA (Hons) in Jewellery and Object, and many years of experience running silver jewellery workshops in North Yorkshire. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to learn and create.

Maker

I'm a North Yorkshire-based jeweller and silver workshop provider with a passion for creating and teaching. I hold a BA (Hons) in Jewellery and Object and am also a qualified Design Technology teacher, combining technical expertise with a love of hands-on learning. My workshops are designed to be fun, engaging, and informative — whether you're a complete beginner or looking to develop your skills further. I believe that jewellery making should be accessible and enjoyable, and I take pride in ensuring that every participant leaves with something they can feel truly proud of. Through clear guidance, a relaxed atmosphere, and plenty of room for creativity, I aim to help people discover the joy of working with silver and the satisfaction of crafting something beautiful with their own hands.

FAQs

This is a hands on session in a workshop environment. Working with metals does create noise, there will be some hammering. There are options to do less and if you have noise cancelling headphones, feel free to bring them.
You will also be using your hands to manipulate materials and use hand tools.

Absolutely! This workshop is suitable for beginners upwards. There are plenty of opportunities to chose simpler or more challenging options along the way and I can tailor the experience to your confidence level.

This is a practical, hands on workshop so I would recommend wearing something you wouldn't be to upset if it got a bit dirty! Try and avoid loose clothing and if you have long hair, please bring something to tie it up with - I have spares if you forget!

Everyone attending the workshop needs to have closed toe shoes on.

Yes. There is plenty of parking at the venue. In the unfortunate scenario that all the parking spaces are full, there is additional parking on the road side along the venue.
