Description
Over two hours, we’ll be exploring the beautiful and meditative craft of block printing — a technique with roots stretching back thousands of years, particularly in India, where it has been used to decorate textiles for everyday use and ceremonial dress. Wood block printing is a wonderfully hands-on process. It’s about slowing down, working with your hands, and embracing the small variations that make each print unique. No two prints are ever exactly the same, and that’s very much part of its charm. During this session, you’ll learn how to prepare fabric or paper, apply ink to the block, and print patterns with confidence. I’ll guide you through the process step by step, sharing tips along the way to help you achieve clear, satisfying prints. There will also be time to experiment, make mistakes, and develop your own rhythm. You don’t need any previous experience — just curiosity and a willingness to have a go. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have your own hand-printed piece to take home, along with the knowledge to continue exploring block printing on your own. Most importantly, enjoy the process. This is a relaxed, creative space, so take your time, ask questions, and have fun with it.
