The shave horse is one of the key tools in a green woodworkers workshop.
On this course you’ll make a dumb head horse; the most versatile and useful type by far. The legs will be cleft and shaped with a drawknife and fitted using green woodwork techniques. Some simple carpentry skills will be used in creating the swinging arm and platform on the bench .The shaving horse ‘knocks apart’ so is easily transportable.
Expect a busy two days learning some fundamental green woodworking skills while making your own shaving horse; culminating in some practice in using it and understanding of the range of uses to which it can be put; including using it as a cleaving break. Once you have your own shave horse you'll wonder how you ever did without one!
Drawknives will be available for sale at the venue (of course plenty will be available for you to use during the course).
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
