Description
Get started on making your own beautiful pair of proper pyjamas in this very comprehensive 3 day workshop. Dates are Sundays 11th and 18th January, and 1st February. The sessions are roughly 5 hours each day. Start by learning to read a commercial dressmaking pattern, adjusting the pattern to your own unique measurements, and then learn to sew up your garment. I am passionate about fit and about helping with bodies that aren't fashion standard, feel great in clothes. This includes making clothes fit your beautiful trans, larger, or disabled body. Of course you are welcome if you are a size 10 too. We will talk about dart manipulation, grading between sizes, bust adjustments, neckline and sleeve adjustments if applicable, lengthening garments, etc. The course is suitable for all people regardless of how you identify although as I am sure you are aware there are 1000s more patterns for dresses and skirts than for gender neutral or masculine clothes. But together we will make you something you love! I will supply the pattern and you just need to bring the fabric for your pyjamas. The class has a maximum of 4 people in it, but more usually just 2, so you get a ton of one to one support, and you will learn a lot! This is a really comprehensive introduction to learning to make your own clothes. It is a small class and nicely paced so you will be able to ask all the questions and really delve quite deep into it all. Most of my past students now regularly make their own clothes! I will talk to you about fabric when the class is booked so you will have plenty of time to buy all you need. Suitable for anyone who can thread up a sewing machine!
What's included in the price?
Everything apart from your main fabric! Fabric requirements: All calculations are on a single lay. If you want to cut your fabric on the fold, increase consumption by 35 cm (0.4 yd) for all sizes. Shirt: 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 1.85 - 2.65 m (2.02 - 2.90 yd) // 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 1.56 - 2.14 m (1.70 - 2.34 yd). Trousers: 115 cm (45″) wide fabric: 2.38 - 2.55 m (2.60 - 2.79 yd) // 150 cm (60″) wide fabric: 1.21 - 2.55 m (1.33 - 2.78 yd).
