Course content – What will you learn? •           An introduction to British Standards BS 8425 (Laminate and Floating Floors) •           Recognition of subfloor types and how they affect installation •           Basic subfloor moisture testing and equipment (overview) •           Subfloor preparation options including fabricated underlays, DPM’s, primers, smoothing compounds and renovation systems •           The tools, equipment and PPE required •           Correct material selection including subfloor and finishing profiles •           Laminate and wood floor products, how they behave and their limitations •           Effects on the products based on its environment – Acclimatization •           Room shapes and their effect on the installation Skills •      Proper use of tools, equipment and PPE •      Accurate installation methods for subfloor and finishing profiles •      An introduction to Setting out, hand/machine cutting, door frame and architrave preparation •      Correct installation of Laminate and Floating wood floors including straight lay, offset, expansion gaps and perimeter finishing •      Confidence in correct products, tools and equipment selection •      The ability to reassure potential customers that using the techniques outlined will ensure work is quality assured •      Confidence to use correct installation techniques to meet British We welcome you to join our friendly community and start something positive! Laminate and Floating Wood Fitting – Basic This is a 3 day course ideal for both newcomers to the trade and those with previous experience at installing laminate and floating engineered woods. Starting with basic installation running through to advanced installation. Day 1 (9.00am – 5.00pm) •        Health & Safety •        Different sub-floors and the construction of them explained •        Choosing the correct product to prepare the subfloor (timber + solid sub-floors) •        Reading moisture in concrete and wooden subfloors (range of equipment used) Lunch break (supplied by V Flooring) •        Applying surface DPM’s to include- Epoxy, PU, Water based 1 coat and 2 coat systems •        Applying primers to include - Water Based, Acrylic Based, and Resin Based •        Applying smoothing compounds to solid sub-floors to include- Latex based, Water based and Fibre reinforced •        Applying compounds to timber sub-floors •        Questions & Answers Day 2 (9:00am - 4:30pm) •          Laminate, Engineered and solid wood identification and differences •          Setting out for laminate and engineered wood floorcoverings •          Different underlays and installation methods Lunch Break (supplied by V Flooring) •          Installing laminate and engineered (floating) wood floor coverings •          Installing laminate and engineered (floating ) to a range of obstacles to include curves, radiator pipes and sanitary wear Day 3 (9:00am - 3:00pm) •        Complete installation of training bay from previous days training Lunch Break (supplied by V Flooring) •        Installing finishing products (Scotia + incizos etc) •        Installing door thresholds •        Maintenance of laminate and wood floor-coverings
