Your tutors for our jewellery-making retreat are Debbie Kershaw and Suzie Menham. Both are familiar and much-loved faces on JewelleryMaker and bring a wealth of experience, creativity and technical expertise to the retreat. Debbie’s workshop will focus on the creation of a fabulous Netted Capriccio Bracelet, whilst Suzie will be showcasing how to create a Chakra themed necklace, whilst also discussing all of the benefits of different gemstones and their properties! Netted Capriccio Bracelet Workshop: Discover how to create a truly eye-catching Netted Capriccio Bracelet using seed beads and a beautifully rhythmic netting technique, taught by guest designer Debbie Kershaw. In this immersive, hands-on workshop, Debbie will guide you step by step through the process, sharing her expert knowledge and professional tips as you learn a series of easy, repetitive stitches that soon become second nature. The technique is both calming and satisfying, making the experience as relaxing as it is creative. This workshop is perfectly suited to beginners who would like to build confidence and gain a solid foundation in bead netting, as well as more experienced jewellery makers who are keen to refine their skills or expand their creative repertoire. You will learn how to set up the netted structure correctly, control and maintain even tension throughout your work, and shape the bracelet to ensure a comfortable, elegant and professional finish. As the workshop progresses, you’ll explore how small design choices can dramatically change the look of your bracelet. Once you have mastered the core technique, you’ll see just how versatile Capriccio netting can be, opening up endless opportunities to experiment with colour combinations, bead sizes and pattern variations. By the end of the session, you will leave with a thorough understanding of the technique so you can finish your piece at home, and plenty of inspiration and confidence to continue developing your own unique designs at home. Calming Chakra Jewellery Workshop. In this enriching workshop, guest designer Suzie Menham will guide you through the creation of a beautiful chakra-themed necklace while exploring the deeper connection between jewellery, mindfulness and wellbeing. Alongside the practical jewellery-making session, Suzie will share her knowledge of healing gemstones and how they can be used as supportive tools for balance, intention and self-care. The workshop will include an accessible introduction to the chakra system and its role in promoting harmony, as well as a discussion on the importance of being present and mindful in everyday life. Suzie will also explore the concept of Yin and Yang, explaining how balance and opposing energies are reflected in both gemstones and design. You will learn about wellbeing through gemstones, including how different stones, shapes and forms—such as spheres, pyramids and merkabas—are believed to influence energy and intention.
