Description
Indian miniature painting. - Painting the face. - Online course. About the course: In Indian miniature painting, the human face is both the most delicate and the most demanding element. A single misplaced line can change an expression entirely. In this course, we slow down and give the face the attention it deserves. You will study the traditional techniques of painting the face in the Guler and Kangra styles of Pahari painting, learning step by step how these refined and poetic faces were created. The course covers: • Preparation of different skin tones. • Subtle shading of facial planes. • Techniques for painting hair. • Outlining and defining features. • Jewellery and ornamental details. • Developing softness, balance, and expression. The main focus will be on the female face, while also studying the idealised and prototypical faces of Krishna and Radha, drawing reference from the Guler Gita Govinda series. This is a slow, careful, and meditative way of working, rooted in observation, patience, and tradition. Key Information: Who is this workshop for? - Open to all levels.
