Description

Following on from Week1, Week 2 is for assembly of the now-dried components. You will be guided through the design and making process and will finish the course with a table which will last for generations. This course is only suitable for intermediate learners with some previous experience of green woodworking. (please see my Introduction to green wood furniture making on this site) It is especially suited for couples wishing to make their own table. All the skills and techniques use readily available hand and portable power tools. There is also the option of combining green wood techniques with other materials, such as glass, stainless steel, etc. These skills can be taken home and with a modest outlay, you can make tables in your own workshop. This course runs at the Devon Green Wood Centre in South Devon. Week 1, Making all components Week 2, 3 days Assembly and finishing Further details of local accommodation can be provided.

What's included in the price?

The course is a nominal 9 days, split into week 1 (6 days) and week 2 (3 days). These courses are booked separately. If you need extra days to finish your table they can be added as necessary. Lunch is not provided but there is a basic kitchen with microwave and toaster. The workshop is heated by biomass boiler and a lovely wood burner.

Peter Lanyon trained as a furniture maker at Rycotewood College in 1995, before going on to complete an MA with distinction in Furniture Design and Technology. He is a trained secondary school teacher, and has been teaching in many different guises for 2 decades. His current furniture practice sees him combining green woodworking techniques with his interest in design, and his skills in fine furniture making. He enjoys passing on these skills and passions through his courses.
