Glass Fusing for Beginners - Make your Own Pebble Bowl in 3 Sessions with Vitreus Art

Description

Pebble Bowl Slumped Glass Fusing over three sessions - creating beautiful glass forms with texture, for beginners and those with some glass fusing experience. On this workshop, you'll learn how to create a beautiful, textured fused glass pebble bowl like the bowls you may have admired at the studio. This course takes place over three sessions on consecutive weeks to allow for multiple kiln firings in between. Each session takes place at the same time and the same day of the week. Over three sessions you'll learn about different kinds of fusing, gain an insight into the kiln firing processes (going far beyond basic full fuse programmes you may have used yourself) and create your own colourful pebble bowl. If you've enjoyed learning the basics of glass fusing on one of our other fusing classes, this is a fascinating next step for your new fused glass addiction! "Excellent. Course delivered in an interesting and informative manner - very inspiring!." - Gail On the first session, you'll use fusible glass, frits, bubble powders and more to create the coloured fused sheets that will become the 'pebbles'. These will be fired later that evening; we'll discuss the different firing schedules required for each stage. On the second session, you'll smash up the fused sheets you created before (!) to make rough nuggets that will then be fired again to form smooth random pebbles for your bowl. You'll then lay these out on the kiln bed to make a range of differently shaped pieces for an exciting 3d piece! You'll also prepare your shaped mould with kiln-wash primer so it'll be ready for the following week's final fusing session. On the final session, you'll create your eventual bowl design in your mould for the final tack firing. After firing your amazing bowl will be ready to collect and admire! This class will encourage you to create your own further multi-stage fused glass designs, and teach you more sophisticated fused glass construction techniques. The skills you've learned on our beginner's fusing class will come in handy here, although this workshop is suitable for beginners too! The course cost of £185 per person includes: Fusible glass sheets for the basis of your projects; Clear and coloured fusible glass frit, enamel pens and more to make your project; Use of all tools and apron; Refreshments during the sessions; Maximum class size 3 people for individual attention; All 3 kiln firings and info sheet on the processes used; All your work to keep, after all firings are complete; Eligibility for our Project Days Programme; Please note - the course date stated is the first of three sessions - it is necessary to attend all three sessions to complete your Pebble Bowl. These are usually three consecutive Tuesdays (for example).
