Description

Taking nature as our theme we will make a series of monoprints using several different techniques with an overall theme of nature. Be warned gel plate printing is very addictive and once you get started it’s hard to stop! Gel plates are a unique slightly squishy surface which is fantastic for making one off prints. This is a companion workshop to the Gel Plate printing 1 Intro Techniques, but is completely standalone, and the workshops can be taken in any order. The techniques in this workshop will include: Printing with leaves, vegetables and feathers Printing with stamps and stencils Paper cut masks What to bring: Apron Gel plate (see note below) Acrylic paint - 6 to 8 tubes of acrylic paint in your choice of colours. Pebeo and Hobbycraft own brands work well and are a reasonable price, approx. £2 to £4 per tube. Note - dried up old paint does not work! Paper - bring about 50 sheets of assorted A4 paper eg white and coloured printer paper, sugar paper, smooth (not textured) cartridge, perhaps some old maps or music paper to print on. Note - glossy photo paper does not work. Roller (or brayer) Basic drawing kit: pencil, eraser, sharpener Tools for cutting out stencils: cutting mat, craft knife, scissors Baby wipes Kitchen roll A handful of leaves and grasses from your garden. Fresh (not dried) plants work best, and nothing with thorns or spikes Any nature related images you would like to work from eg leaves, seed pods, tree shapes, birds Optional: Any previous gel plate prints you have already made and would like to work on top of If you don’t have a gel plate there will be a few available to borrow on the day, and Janina will bring some extra gel plates for purchase as required. If you are interested in either of these two options please contact Janina in advance to reserve. There is a cover charge of £3 to cover other materials used on the day (acrylic mediums, additional papers, card, use of stamps and stencils)
