You will learn the foundations of draping by placing and shaping fabric on the mannequin to build the design in real time. We’ll cover essential draping techniques such as the basic foundation drape, shaping and balance, clean lines, controlled folds, pleats, gathers, tucks, and how to refine the fit on the mannequin. By the end, you will have the skills to sculpt an elegant evening-dress concept directly on the dress form with a professional finish. Training fabric will be available for practice. If you want to drape a personalised evening dress for yourself, you’re welcome to bring your own fabric (optional). In this hands-on draping (moulage) course, you’ll learn how to shape fabric directly on a dress form to create an elegant evening dress design—without using paper patterns. We’ll cover the fundamentals of draping, key shaping techniques, controlled folds and gathers, and how to build a clean toile that reflects your personal style. You’ll work step-by-step with guidance and feedback in a small group, so you can confidently develop your own draped design and take your progress forward for future projects.
