Teaching a student to be a safe, effective and competent woodturner rather than teach woodturning explains my approach to my subject. I am Colin Fishwick a well- respected, nationally recognised award winning professional woodturner for over 24 years. Fully qualified teacher with over 46 years experience and tutor with full insurance cover, DfES registered and current DBS certification (see below for details). What do I offer? I can offer training of all aspects of woodturning for beginners, improvers and advanced turners of any ability, age, or gender in a very well-equipped workshop in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Or, if travel is difficult, I can come to your workshop. Spindle, faceplate, end-grain hollowing, texturing and colouring, hand thread chasing, design and realisation. I teach skills and tool control through the process of making projects. My work is included in The Daniel Collection and has been displayed world wide. Included in the fee is full personal instruction in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Maximum of two students at a time. All materials, finishes and use of a comprehensive range of chisels, scrapers, cutting tools, measuring and enhancing tools. Full PPE including face, eye, dust, chip and solvent protection. FAQs
No, all materials, tools, equipment and PPE is provided. You can, of course, bring your own preferred clothing for turning, smock, sweatshirt, jeans/work trousers, strong shoes/boots. Long hair must be tied back. No trainers or sandals and no shorts, please. You can bring any tools you have for sharpening or use during the event.
Unfortunately we are unable to provide food or lunch, a packed lunch is recommended. Refreshments of tea, coffee, water or squash are provided all day at no cost.
