Coffee, Cake, 'n' Craft - Sand Shifts & Shakers in New Romney, Kent

X

Description

This hands-on glass workshop focuses on creating a Sand Shifter, also known as a Sand Shaker, using traditional Tiffany-style copper foil techniques. You will construct a sealed glass pyramid designed to be gently shaken, allowing its contents to move slowly and repeatedly through the structure. During the session, you will be guided through assembling and finishing your pyramid before selecting the materials to place inside. You may choose decorative sands, shells, charms or small objects that create visual interest as they shift and settle. If you wish, you can also create a more personal piece by including small keepsakes such as buttons, tags or other meaningful items. There is also the option to include a small amount of cremains for those creating a commemorative piece; this is approached with care, sensitivity and respect throughout the workshop. You will be supported step by step, learning the fundamentals of copper foil construction, assembling your piece securely, arranging its contents and completing it ready to take home. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners and anyone seeking a calm, supportive making environment. Held as part of our Coffee, Cake, ’n’ Craft series, the session is unhurried and thoughtfully paced, allowing time to work comfortably and focus on the process. All tools and materials are provided.
