Coffee, Cake, ‘n’ Craft – Glass Kaleidoscope in New Romney, Kent
Description
This hands-on glass workshop focuses on designing and assembling a fully working glass kaleidoscope. You will learn how the internal structure of a kaleidoscope is formed and how mirrors, colour and movement work together to create repeating patterns. During the session, you will be guided through each stage of the process, from constructing the viewing tube and positioning the mirrors to assembling the internal chamber. You will also decorate the exterior using coloured and patterned glass, creating an outer design that reflects your own style and complements the movement inside. Once completed, you will be able to test and adjust your kaleidoscope, observing how gentle rotation creates changing patterns of colour and shape. Each finished piece is unique, shaped by your design choices and the way the internal elements interact. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners and anyone interested in learning a new glass-based craft. With small group sizes, you will have time to work at a relaxed pace with guidance available throughout. Held as part of our Coffee, Cake, ’n’ Craft series, the session offers a friendly, sociable environment where you can focus on the making process without pressure. All tools and materials are provided.
