What to bring: • Around 1 metre of medium-weight upholstery fabric (we’ll send a quick guide before the workshop). • Your Christmas spirit — and yes, Christmas jumpers are optional but encouraged! • A packed lunch (we’ll provide the treats!) • We provide aprons, but feel free to bring your own. • Wear comfortable and closed in shoes such as trainers or boots. Our workshops take place in a spacious upholstery workshop (BA3 2AD) at the South West School of Upholstery in Midsummer Norton - a creative, welcoming space with safe on-site parking and easy access. You can relax knowing your car (and your new creation!) are in good hands.
Yes! We have optional DIY upholstery starter kits available to buy at the workshop — perfect if you catch the upholstery bug (and trust us, you will).
Definitely! Upholstery is even more fun with company. You can book together — and we might even give you a small discount if you bring a friend.
Our workshops typically run for one full day (9.30am–4pm), giving you plenty of time to complete your piece and learn the techniques properly.
Something comfortable that you don’t mind getting a little dusty. We do provide aprons, but feel free to bring your own. You will need comfortable shoes for standing and working at the benches - make sure that they cover your feet, such as trainers or boots.
Tea, coffee, and plenty of biscuits are included (fuel for creativity!). For full-day workshops, please bring your own lunch. If you require any specialist teas, coffees or milk, please do bring your own, a fridge is available. We do have a microwave if you wish to use it for lunch.
Absolutely! We encourage it — it makes your piece truly personal. You’ll need around 1 metre of medium-weight upholstery fabric. We’ll send fabric guidelines before your workshop to help you choose.
We provide the frame, padding, tools, expert tuition, refreshments, and plenty of laughs. You’ll just need to bring your own fabric (or choose one from our collection for an additional cost).
Depending on the workshop, you’ll create either a beautiful footstool or a coffee table — a stylish, practical piece you can proudly take home at the end of the day.
Not at all! Our workshops are perfect for complete beginners. We’ll guide you through every step, from frame to finish. If you can hold a staple gun and enjoy a bit of creative fun, you’ll fit right in. You will be standing for a lot of the day working at a bench.
