Experience the life of a traditional blacksmith at our specialist forge in the very heart of rural Herefordshire. Oldfield Forge Academy is dedicated to teaching you time-honoured blacksmithing skills and techniques. During your three-hour experience at Oldfield Forge Academy we will help you to forge your very own bottle opener to complement your subsequent tour and tasting experience. Do not worry, nobody leaves us without firstly completing their opener before heading to the tasting!
After working up a thirst you can down tools and enjoy lunch before making your way over to nearby Hillside Brewery or Westons Cider. So, whether you’re a beer or cider lover, there’s a tour that’s just right for your preferred tipple!
From stag and hen parties, company team building through to simple ‘friends get togethers’ – we really can create an event that will work for every type of group. We will help you put the whole day together – working within your budget to make your day at Oldfield Forge a special one to remember. Tour & Tasting Options and Details:
Westons Cider – Traditional producers of award winning cider and perry draught and bottled products. Discover the craft of cider-making from blossom to bottle. They will show you everything – with an expert guide leading the way. See where they harvest, weigh and wash apples. Venture into the heart of the mill where they press, ferment and mature before blending and packing. See all they do, why and how – and hear a little bit of home-spun history too.

Hillside Brewery – an exciting, family owned and run Gloucestershire brewery, built upon traditional skills and values. You can see, touch, smell & experience the brewing process up close, before sitting back to taste a well-earned ale overlooking some of Gloucestershire’s most stunning landscape.

This is much more than your normal experience day! You can see, touch, smell and experience the life of a blacksmith, taking home whatever you make with us. Be sure to dress appropriately, remembering that in the colder months it can get chilly inside the workshop (despite the fires!) We will be here to meet you on arrival where we will get all of the boring (but essential) bits out of the way. Please bring the completed Health and Safety forms with you, it’s vital they are completed prior to your visit so that you are ready to start your day as soon as you arrive. If you prefer you can always email them to us prior to arrival.

All your PPE will be provided, so you will be all be ready to start your experience day with us! Oldfield Forge Academy is set in most stunning Herefordshire landscapes.
We have Shepherd and Scandinavian Huts which you are welcome to use for refreshments or rest time before or after your experience.
We welcome you to bring your own picnic from home or, if you wish to order a delicious home-cooked meal from our local pub, please see their menu and order directly with The Garway Moon.
