An introduction to gel plate printing In this half day session you will be introduced to a variety of ways to make beautiful prints using a gelli plate. Your tutor, Carol, will guide you through the different techniques using found objects, simple paper shapes, stencils and plant material. By the end of the session you will be confident to follow your own creative instincts and will take away a number of finished prints. Gelli printing is a monoprinting technique using acrylic paint rolled out onto a flat gel plate before using objects or tools to create patterns and textures. It only requires a few simple materials is a fun and easy technique to continue to develop at home. About your tutor – Carol Pairaudeau Carol is an experienced artist, printmaker and tutor, working from her home studio in a small Leicestershire village. She is a member of Leicester Society of Artists as well as Leicester Print Workshop. In her own practice layers of handprinted papers are frequently incorporated into mixed media paintings as she explores how shapes, colours, texture and pattern can be combined to explore a response to a place, an idea or a theme.
