Description
This is a hands on practical introduction to woodwork. Aimed at the beginner/entry level candidate that wants to make things from wood. We begin with the all important but short safety talk, then it's straight in to making a simple bench hook. Learning how to select appropriate materials, measure, mark out, saw, drill, countersink, glue and screw. All in the first half hour or so (phew) Then we will be using and developing the skills learned to make a wall mounted coat rack with shaker pegs and a shelf above. Throughout the day your trainer will explain why certain techniques and processes are used and this knowledge how these can be applied to future projects. If time allows the item made can be polished with one of the wax stain polishes available or you can take it au-natural to paint/stain/polish at home.

We have limited parking close by and disabled parking by arrangement.
A. Everything for the course is included. All materials, tools, machinery and personal safety equipment are supplied. Just bring a positive attitude and plenty of enthusiasm.
A. We aim to be as barrier free as possible. We openly welcome participants that are ND or have physical impairments and will, wherever possible, adapt the course accordingly. If we can ensure personal safety and participants can negotiate the flight of stairs to the workshop we will find a way. Please contact us to discuss any issues in confidence.
A. Comfortable clothing that is OK to get dusty/dirty without tassels, loose sleeves, etc, that could catch in machinery. Footwear should be sturdy with covered toes.
