Description

------------------- ONE SPACE REMAINING -------------------- 10-week silver jewellery making course. Exclusive small class. Beautiful surroundings. Fully equipped workshop + experienced friendly tutor. ABOUT THIS EVENT Join Teresa Crickmar for a five-week jewellery course that offers everything for a beginner to learn how to make a stone set ring, hammered chain necklace and a beautiful fold-formed pendant. I offer suggestions for projects but prefer to work with each student individually to make what they want to wear or gift. The first week is used for a complete beginners session or as a catch up to remember past skills. You will learn about the basic jeweller's tools, how to use them to mark, measure, cut, file, texture, form and solder work. These skills will then help you to know what is possible and you can order silver for the following weeks. You will be guided with what and where to order materials. Teresa is a sought-after tutor. She creates a fun, relaxed atmosphere to learn in and oozes positivity. Learners join her classes a little unsure but quickly catch the bug with her enthusiasm for jewellery making. You will gain the skills to make beautiful, professional-looking work that will receive lots of compliments. Teresa believes the design element of making should be as important as the piece itself and so if you have ideas, or are inspired by others work please share this before you start so that she can adjust the course content. Small tailored courses give you just what you want. Teresa will give you an idea of the materials and processes needed right from the outset before you even start making! Her work can be seen in Primavera Gallery, Cambridge and Daryll Nantais in Linton. She shares her time between being a mother, wife, cockerpoo Mumma, homemaker (literally plastering and building walls!),a Reiki practitioner, adult education tutor, jeweller and her many volunteer roles in the community. This 20-hour course runs for two hours per week for ten weeks with a limited class size of three. Please note the Bank Holiday week has been skipped - 2.6.22 COVID-SECURE Government guidance for managing the spread of coronavirus will be adhered to at all times to ensure your comfort and safety.

FAQs

Everything you will need is here, however if you use reading glasses for close up work, don't forget them. Some students find it useful to bring a notebook to sketch and make notes. Following a conversation on the first week you will be encouraged to order your silver and stones for following lessons with guidance of what, where and when.

Yes the number 11 stops just 2 minutes walk away and runs from Cambridge to Newmarket and back.

A good level of hand-eye coordination is needed to complete fine work using torches, saws and electronic motors. You will need to be able to move safely in a workshop environment and be able to follow clear instructions easily. You must adhere to the health and safety aspects of using the equipment as demonstrated.

Of course, this means you haven't learned any bad habits! You are most welcome and it will not be long before you're making beautiful work.
