Description
Brian and Nicki love teaching a variety of willow weaving courses in the beautiful Surrey Hills near Dorking. A beautiful quirky studio, with a compost toilet, come and spend the immersed in nature as you sit and weave. The course starts with a cup of tea or coffee on arrival and an introduction to willow, where it is grown, its preparation and the different varieties you can weave with. We then take you through the process of making the basket step by step. Working from a 39cm wooden base that we have drilled in preparation for you, we insert the uprights learning a trac border. Then using the rope weave, in a variety of different colours that we have in stock at that time, your own unique log basket is created. Finish off with a traditional border and add your leather handles. The course involves a some of standing and requires some strength in you fingers and hands. It is not recommended if you have arthritic hands.
