Jung on the beach: a half day guided walk & magical mandala workshop

X

Description

A guided walk around beautiful Polzeath and then a beach art session ideal for individuals with a strong interest in Carl Jung's work and exploring the power of artistic expression for personal growth and self-discovery. Also suitable for professionals in psychology, art therapy, and related fields seeking a unique professional development opportunity. We'll start with an exploration of Polzeath itself guided by the legacy of Carl Jung's 1923 seminar visit and then go on to create a mandala on the beach. If you are interested in psychology, art, and personal development then this will be an enriching experience. Polzeath is a beautiful place to explore and those who came from the "Jung by the Sea" centenary conference loved it! On the guided walk I will tell you the stories and locations significant to Carl Jung's 1923 visit, and by transporting you back to a pivotal moment in his intellectual journey you”ll gain an understanding of the profound influence of the Cornish landscape on his thinking. I'll tailor the walk's length and difficulty to suit the group's fitness level, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable experience for all. After the walk we'll follow in the footsteps of Jung's creative exploration documented in his "Red Book," and delve into the world of mandalas. This form of sacred circular art has deep symbolic and therapeutic meaning and I’ll help you explore the principles of Beach Art mandala creation. You’ll discover its potential to unlock personal insights and enhance self-awareness and realise why Jung drew them and how you can too on a rather larger scale! A minimum of two people are required per booking

Since giving up full-time teaching I have been discovering how to draw on beaches. I'm happy to share this knowledge with anyone who wants to learn too. I am based in North Cornwall but sometimes in and around Cardiff and for group bookings I am happy to travel to your local beach if I can. Most of my work is based on sacred geometric designs that are relatively easy to produce on your own, although of course it's much more fun to work with others. I can show you how!

FAQs

Because the Beach Art mandala making is tide dependent I will need to adjust the timings to fit in with the low tide and weather. I will let you know a viable start time once I have a forecast and tides. I will contact you before to ensure the best options for the day you have chosen. I can only run one session a day so will fit in with you as much as I can.

Allow three hours, although it depends on the speed you walk and how detailed a mandala you want to create. The walk and timings can be adjusted to suit you. Either a fairly short walk around New Polzeath, or a longer one up to Pentire and the Rumps for those who want to explore more on foot. In two hours you can create a fairly detailed mandala and have time to reflect on it being taken by the waves from a viewpoint on the grass.

I have a minimum number of two people per session. If you are on your own I can try to match you with someone wanting to come solo too but this isn’t always possible. Otherwise feel free to book both places to make the session run or send me a message.
