Traditional Round Basket Making Workshop Explore the craft of basket weaving and learn the traditional basketry techniques, all in the relaxing surroundings of Hanwell Wine Estate. In this one day workshop you will be making a traditional round basket and covering the basic weaves needed to get started in basketry. The baskets are suitable for foraging blackberries and sloes from the hedgerows, for picking leaves and flowers from the allotment or for small gardening tools - just a few ideas! You will be using locally grown willows to weave and will finish with a pegged ash or a twisted willow handle. All items can be made by both complete novices and people with experience of using willow. All materials and tools are provided along with refreshments throughout the day and a two-course lunch served with a glass of local wine. We know some people like to use their own tool so if you would like to then bring any of the following - Secateurs, scissors, natural string/garden string, a sharp penknife or Stanley knife, a large damp towel or something of the sort to keep your work damp and a pinny too if you wish.
