Maker's bio

I am a teacher, maker and designer. I started my working life as a mental health nurse and I changed career in the early naughties. I graduated from the Royal School of Needlework in 2006 having learnt to stitch anything with expertise. I started working with leather in 2010 which opened up a whole new discipline for me. I love the challenges of creating bespoke pieces for people. Sharing my knowledge and skills is a passion of mine. You can learn anything if tea and cake are involved!

Juanita Harrington reviewed: Three day glove making course

"Fabulous glove making course. Elizabeth is an excellent teacher, very patient and helpful. My sister and I had a wonderful time. We would recommend this course to anyone. Mark (Elizabeth’s husband) kept us well fed with excellent home made food. Hoping to make another course in the next year or two"

The Smart Stitcher responded:

"Thank you for your kind words Juanita. It was a pleasure meeting you and your sister. I hope you are both proud of your achievements. I wish you every success in your future glove-making. "

Daniel Hintermann reviewed: Three day glove making course

"I enjoyed the glove making course very much! With Elizabeth as a competent and patient teacher I feel I progressed much further than I could have expected within those 3 days of the course. Furthermore, the food provided during the course was very delicious and Mark (Elizabeth's husband) could accommodate my dietary requirements perfectly. His cold-smoked salmon was excellent. Thank you very much!"

The Smart Stitcher responded:
