The London Leather Workshopis a design, prototyping and manufacturing studio founded by Italian designers and makers Sara Battiston and Melissa Bruscoli.
With 20 years of experience in the fashion and accessory industry Sara and Melissa work with both local and international customers ranging from start-ups to established brands. Their studio is able to offer a range of services from design consultancy to product development and from prototyping to manufacturing of handbags, accessories and soft furnishings.
Their practical classes will teach you the fundamental techniques of working with leather or vegan leather, how to sew these materials to a professional standard and how to create customised goods. The theoretical classes will provide you with the foundation for designing bags and accessories as well as insights and essential information about the industry.
"Can't recommend this course enough for anybody wanting to learn about leather crafting and get some excellent hands on experience. Sara was extremely knowledgeable and I learned so much more about the leather process and working with leather than I was expecting to. The instructions given were clear and Sara was very attentive in correcting our technique, offering advice or just generally chatting about leather craft. After spending the morning learning different construction techniques the process of making our item (the passport holder in my case) went very smoothly and I was very proud of what I was able to create at the end of the day. A great experience all around and I'm looking forward to my next solo leather crafting project using the skills I have learned on this course."
"Loved this workshop. Both Sara and Melissa were very welcoming and made us feel comfortable in their lovely atelier.
Sara led the workshop and couldn’t have been better. Very knowledgeable, gave just the right amount of information/teaching before letting us practice some of the theory she had given us. Ended up making a beautiful wallet (that I really needed as mine had fallen apart) and a little key ring that my mum loves.
Sara was attentive, but not overbearing - letting you get on with the work but checking in from time to time to see the progress and always there for any questions as you run into difficulties.
I’ve got the bug now - planning on making a handbag for my girlfriend next (after just a morning with Sara I feel confident enough to give it a crack).
Highly recommend these two absolute pros.
