Maker's bio

I have been working with clay for a number of years, my background is in creative textiles and I am interested in texture, pattern and mark making on the clay surface. Most of my work is functional and made from slab rolled clay. I love teaching and sharing ideas with others and run regular courses and workshops from my studio in West Sussex. I have no more than 4 people at any one time and encourage the individual to explore and experiment with their own ideas.

Sarah Johnson reviewed: 6 week ceramic courses using hand building techniques, stoneware clay and coloured slips.

"I'm in week two of Jenny's six week ceramic course and can highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a totally immersive, relaxing and really inspiring introduction to ceramics. Each week has been very different, learning new skills under Jenny's excellent tuition and guidance. We've experimented with different techniques, slips, glazes and forms and have already made lots of exciting items. The location is really peaceful, nothing is too much trouble for Jenny and she is very open to people doing their own thing and following their own design styles. Really refreshing and a lovely way to spend a Wednesday afternoon!"

Alison McMullan reviewed: Using stoneware clay and the pinch pot technique make six equal sized egg cups/ tea lights.

"I was bought a voucher for one of Jenny's courses last Christmas. I visited Jenny's workshop in the Spring and as I have just finished mounting the work I feel I can now write this review. The location is gorgeous but possibly not the easiest place to find - Jenny's directions were invaluable. Jenny is very friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable. I had a fantastic, relaxing time and have produced some beautiful pieces, some I have kept while others have been given as presents. I shall add pictures to the Facebook page - I was hoping I could add them to this. Thank you Jenny."

"Excellent day, I took a friend to Jenny's class as a birthday treat and we had a fabulous day. Jenny is very warm and welcoming and great at explaining the finer points. It was such a relaxing experience as we were able to let our imagination take over, guided by jenny at difficult stages. We then sat down to the most wonderful lunch at the artisan bakery, well worth a visit. This is a class i would love to do again as i have so many new ideas, if you want quality time with a great teacher then look no further."
