Maker's bio

Mitchell-Finch is the partnership of two graphic designers who met at Norwich School of Art in the 1970’s. Now based in a quiet corner of Suffolk, our work has taken two distinct paths, Jane creates unique textile brooches & artworks with free-machine embroidery, Edwin hand prints posters, cards and stationery using vintage letterpress type and printing presses. We’re keen to share our skills, and now offer workshops in both creative embroidery and letterpress printing.

Anthony reviewed: Learn letterpress printing

"I had a fantastic day with Edwin exploring the world of letterpress machines, and coming up, planning, and printing my own posters and beer mats. Edwin is a fantastic teacher, full of knowledge about letterpressing (of course), but a whole host of other crafts as well. The work is calming and meditative (and pretty painstaking - it's well worth it especially if you enjoy iterating and improving things!). You might even come away with music and book recommendations too!"

Mitchell-Finch Printing responded:

"Thanks for your kind review. It was lovely to meet you and we had a great day, you proved to be a fast learner and very patient type setter. Our discussions during the day ranged far and wide. I’m going to take a look at that list of 1001 albums..."

Rich Westwood reviewed: Learn letterpress printing

"FANTASTIC COURSE - A great day in rural Suffolk. We thoroughly recommend this course to anyone with an interest in printing, or just in hands-on crafts - a great antidote to working on screen all day. We'd prepared a couple of ideas in advance, which helped get started, and Edwin worked extremely hard with us to turn them into some striking A3 prints (cards are also an option). His attention and commitment to turning our rough thoughts into a quality end product were truly impressive. Edwin, Jane and Burt the dog were wonderful hosts, offering a delicious homemade soup for lunch as well as chocolate brownies."

Mitchell-Finch Printing responded:

"Thanks Rich - It was a pleasure to work with you both, and for you to come so prepared was a bonus!"
