I have been basket making for 21 years and have been working professionally and running courses for the last 13 years. I feel ardently about protecting the knowledge of our traditional rural crafts that are so much a part of our heritage.
My background is in arts and crafts. Having studied art, design and furniture making, worked in traditional timber framing and dabbled in stone masonry and stained glass, I then became hooked on basket making.
"A fantastic day spent learning to basket weave! I would totally recommend this craft course. Jane is a great teacher with great knowledge & experience. Thoroughly enjoyed it & her flapjacks & afternoon cake were an exceptionally lovely added bonus! Thank you Jane & I look forward to returning at some point."
"My sister and I attended this as a birthday treat. We both had a wonderful day and went home with a basket to be proud of (with Jane's help). Jane is a warm and welcoming host and is an excellent teacher-wonderful knowledge, calm manner and very able to help and guide. It really was a relaxing and inspiring day and gave me a real sense of the heritage of basket making. We will go back!"
"I have been on a number of one and two day courses with Jane in her beautiful converted barn. Jane is an amazing and very patient teacher spending time with each person on the course as needed. You are also treated to a selection of teas, homemade cake and soup at lunch time. I look forward to my next course with Jane and highly recommend her for all level of basket making skills."
