Response from Full Circle Turning:It was great to meet you Basil and I am so glad you enjoyed your time turning with me. I look forward to catching up in the future. All the best and Happy turning.
My wife bought me a voucher for my 70th Birthday last year. I had intended to do a pottery course but there were not any which fitted in with my plans. So as a last minute decision I thought I would try wood turning. Although I watch a lot of craft programs not something I have experience of. I never got use the school lathe. I therefore approached this with some trepidation.
What a pleasant surprise. Mark made me feel really welcome and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with him which flew by. I managed to make two pieces in the time available and I have been boring friends and relations with my experience and I am now seriously considering taking this further. The only thing holding me back is the likely cost of even setting up a basic workshop.
Anyone taking this up would be well advised to take a course or two and I would recommend doing this with Mark.

I have just spent a fabulous day with Mark who tailored the course to my needs as a novice wood turner. Mark is is very personable and nothing was too much trouble. His style is to demonstrate and then swiftly to give the student hands on, guiding where necessary. I have come away having learnt a great deal with no nonsense advice from choosing wood through to the art of professional finishing.
Many thanks for a fabulous day; off now to practice.

Have just had an amazing day being taught wood turning by Mark. As a complete novice I have come home with a very pleasing and tactile bowl and also got to gain some experience spindle turning as an added bonus.
Mark was an excellent, knowledgable and friendly tutor, who explained and demonstrated technics very well, allowing a lot of hands-on work for myself.
He has also given me a great deal of advice on what equipment and tools I would need to start up - hopefully soon when I have sorted out somewhere to actually do it!
Many thanks Mark for a great day.

I have recently attended a texturing and design day with Mark because for years I have admired his work, not just with his fantastic turning, but also with his techniques for embellishing his 'works of art' with different textures, colours and materials - his finished items are always impressive. Like me, his inspiration seems to come from nature with the occasional oriental slant!
Mark is an excellent tutor, always explaining in the simplest of terms the correct processes to use and breaking them down into simple stages to follow to achieve the highest quality of finish. I learnt a lot in a day and feel that I can now take my turning to another level. I already have a good knowledge of turning, but would like to sometimes add 'a little something else' to the item, and it is always good to have someone else handy to 'bounce' some of my ideas off! Thanks Mark

Mark is not only a superb woodturner, as can be seen from the work shown on his website, but he is also an intuitive teacher. I went to him as complete novice and left able to turn a reasonable bowl on my own. After a bit of practice I intend to return to Mark for a little more advanced stuff.
Thank you Mark.5
