Maker's bio

Kristy started making glass beads around 6 years ago after receiving a lesson as a birthday present. She makes a variety of jewellery items, including Memory Beads, incorporating ashes, hair or fur into the glass which is very rewarding work. She has always enjoyed teaching, and so naturally after learning to make glass beads herself, decided to pass on the love of the material to other people.

Yumi Coyte reviewed: Learn to Make Glass Beads - Lampwork Taster Sessions in Kings Langley

"I had been wanting to try lampwork for a very long time when my husband gave me a voucher to Kristy's Lampwork Taster course for Christmas. I spent two days with Kristy and I cannot praise her enough for the way she taught me. Her explanations are thorough and safety orientated. Even she said it's the boring stuff, but safety is paramount when the flame can be 1000ºC! She was easy to understand, very articulate and extremely patient! (especially for a complete novice like myself!) I was able to make beads with the skills she taught me. She has fueled my desire to try more of this amazing art. I highly recommend Kristy's Lampwork Course. If I could give it 10+ stars, I would! Thank you, Kristy!"

"Thank you for the lovely words Yumi, it was a pleasure to work with you. I do hope you continue making beads at home, your beads were very good for a beginner and I think you have potential to be a good lampworker."

Learn to make glasd beads reviewed: Learn to Make Glass Beads - Lampwork Taster Sessions in Kings Langley

"I spent a fantastic Friday with Kristy learning some of the basics of lampwork to make glass beads. Kristy is an excellent tutor, and clearly has lots of experience and amazing enthusiasm. After the introduction and basic (common sense) safety information, we began with a demo, followed by straight into my first bead. The day progressed with interspersed demos of new techniques, and chances to try them out. regular breaks were important, as it requires very intense concentration. I finished the day by making some to my own design, based on the techniques I had learned. I had a brilliant time, learnt some new skills, and am considering getting some basic equipment to carry on at home. Would thoroughly recommend this course and tutor :)"
