We are absolutely delighted with our stained glass work.
As complete novices to the art we could not be more grateful to Anna for her welcoming, engaging and inspirational teaching approach.
From the beginning of the day to the end she nurtured us, enabling us to develop the skills necessary to achieve success. We each felt enabled to explore ideas and to be creative with colour choices in the safe environment provided.
We highly recommend this course and its hostess and look forward, in future, to undertaking the Level 2 course offered.
Many thanks Anna, we couldn't have asked for more!
Wow, what can I say but thank you Anna for the most amazing day. Anna is such a good teacher and everything was so well prepared and organised to make the learning experience such fun. Her attention to detail was second to none. It was so lovely to be able to bring home what we had made and I cannot recommend her highly enough. I will certainly be booking for more courses. Thank you Anna and I hope to see you soon.
What a wonderful day we had with Anna, we learnt such a lot about the techniques, and she is very calm, organised and made sure we understood all instructions. We can't wait to attend the next level. Highly recommended.
I had been inspired by Gaudi's mosaics in Barcelona but had no idea how complicated it is to complete a mosaic. Anna provided excellent teaching on the basics, design, use of cutting tools, materials that can be used etc. etc. down to the finest details. Her teaching is patient, expert and inspirational. Her hospitality in her delightful cottage and workshop warm and welcoming. The day was intense and hard work but I was very pleased with the mosaic I completed and brought home. I am inspired to learn and practice more when time allows, hopefully being able in due course to produce beautiful mosaics inside and outside the home. I would recommend this course (level 1) to anyone. Anna will also give helpful guidance on where to buy materials needed and has a number of wonderful books to browse over the lunch break (while the glue is drying!). The day was a birthday present from my craft-addicted wife. Brilliant!
Having recently done the level 2 course with Anna I can't say I was disappointed. Reaffirming and pushing forward skills learnt from the level 1 course, my friend Matt and I felt well looked after making pieces of more our own design and of greater complexity.
Anna is a very good tutor and great company.
Would once again heartily recommend her stained glass courses, returning for the level 2 like we did was well worth doing.
Received this one-day stained glass course as a Christmas present. Have been looking forward to the day since then - did the course at the weekend and the day exceeded all expectations. Anna is very welcoming, friendly, patient and really helped me to get the best out of the day. I came away having learned the techniques needed, and put those processes into practice to create my lightcatcher. Thrilled with it. Thank you Anna - I had a super day. All best wishes. Andrew
I booked this course of two days as I wanted to know more about Stained Glass and was an absolute beginner. Anna is a great teacher, patient and knowledgeable and her cottage is comfortable, warm and welcoming. I learnt a lot on both the days, stage one entailed cutting glass in straight lines, stage two cutting more curves. Both days were full and involved the techniques of copper foiling and tinning and bead soldering the joints and edges of the pieces we made. It was great to be able to take a glass hanging and a beautiful coloured glass butterfly home, both original and hand made. Thank you Anna, I will certainly be back as soon as I can.
Our day at Anna's studio was a great experience. Anna is a very calm, friendly and warm teacher/host. She dealt with my autistic adult daughter in a superb way - full of respect and treated her an as equal. Both myself and my daughter loved the day at Anna's studio and came home with two beautiful creations. Anna gave us the support, encouragement and techniques we needed to do our mosaic. We are now looking at other courses offered and looking to book a date for another great session with Anna.
I couldn’t recommend this course much more. We booked the day hoping to come away knowing the basics of stained glass making and maybe with something in hand at the end.
Not only did we come away with a finished stained glass project but Anna was a fantastic teacher, making sure that we knew what we were doing and that we understood the process as much as possible.
She dedicated a lot of time to helping each of us over the day and was very friendly and welcoming, though we were working hard on our glass through the day she made every effort to make the workplace comfortable.
The projects we made weren’t overly complicated but were manageable within the one day’s course and were more than enough difficulty for a beginner, teaching the fundamentals of glass cutting and copper foiling. The finished pieces were still definitely something for us to be proud of.
Both of us are keen to go back and do another course with her soon!
I wanted to learn a new skill. Anna is extremely good at explaining all the stages of making a piece of stained glass, using the copper foil method, and there are many stages before ending up with a finished piece of work. Anna was very good at teaching how to do each stage and how to work safely, which is how I spent the whole day cutting glass and avoided making any cuts to my hands and fingers. The course is very intense but lots of help and guidance available from the teacher and lots of questions answered.
I was a little disappointed not to be taught the traditional way of making stained glass using lead came, but this is an introductory class at the basic level and all things relevant how to make a finished piece of work. The advantage of using lead came would be that your finished piece of work would be far more robust as using only copper foil and solder is far more delicate and flimsy. The course was informative and learnt a lot about glass cutting, the different types of glass, how to cut it, break it and smooth rough edges. It is a skill, but well taught by Anna and was easy to follow her instructions.
I am not sure what to say that hasn't been said in all the other reviews on here! Anna is fabulous, warm and welcoming. Her attention to detail within the working space is outstanding, everything you need is immediately to hand. Her patience and knowledge are remarkable, and her studio space is a riot of incredible talent, so vibrant and so inspirational, I come away wanting to do everything!
But what of the actual craft? This was my second silk painting course with Anna, and silk painting is just so much fun. You can get as much out of silk painting, if you have two left thumbs when it comes to art, or if you are a fine artist! The techniques are explained by Anna so well and it is a true mix of doing what is suggested and then adding your own unique style or twist. Everybody's work will come out in a different way, which is part of the magic. Cannot recommend highly enough.
PS Did I mention that tea, coffee biscuits and marvellous cake are always on hand!!
Anna was warm and friendly, the workshop is full of her wonderful creations and very inspiring! I attended the one day Mosaic class with my sister in law and we both really enjoyed it. Anna is a great tutor, everything was explained in detail and I am really pleased with the trivet I made .
This is my second course with Anna and once again she excelled herself. Anna's attention to detail, immense patience, knowledge of the subject and expertise in teaching the course enabled us to complete a final piece on the day. The atmosphere and surroundings, not to mention the wonderful refreshments, helped to round off this very enjoyable experience.
I will definitely be returning for a third time.
Anna is a great teacher and a makes everyone feel very welcome and relaxed. With the small class sizes she is able to adapt the course to suit the skill level and preferences of her students, to give a personalised experience.
I worked with new materials and learnt new skills while progressing on a lovely flower pot.
It was also good to exchange ideas and experiences with Anna and my fellow student.
A thoroughly enjoyable day, highly recommended.
Anna is so friendly ....made me feel very welcome and relaxed as soon as I arrived.
Her craft studio is really cosy country cottage.... full of crafts to inspire...
She gave me lots of confidence and helped when ever I got stuck....
I came away with a photo frame all finished and I love it....
Met two other lovely ladies on course and we hope to now do level 2 together...
Thank you Anna
One day mosiac course.
We had a really fantastic day with Anna in her beautiful studio space.
Anna was patient and understanding with two complete newbies to mosaics and guided us gently through the processes and techniques. The selection of pieces to tackle was great and the array of materials to use was more than ample from tiles to glass, beads and even china cups to cut up!
We enjoyed spending time with Anna and learning about mosaics, as well as the interesting conversation throughout the day.
Maggie and I would highly recommend this course and hope to go back for another day with Anna soon.
