Maker's bio

I am a Devon based self taught textile artist specialising in free motion machine embroidery. I create contemporary botanical art, landscapes and seascapes, all inspired by the natural world around me. I have chosen not to use fabric dyes or paints in my work so prefer to use up-cycled textiles where possible for their variety and individuality. I am a member of The Embroiderers Guild, The Society For Embroidered Work and the Devon Artist Network

Wendy Oliver reviewed: Seedheads, grasses & flowers, 1 day free motion machine embroidery workshop

"This course was very well run. Materials were provided where needed and tuition in the skills required were demonstrated, together with advice on design. It was managed so that everyone went home with a finished piece which was individual. Alison and the other members of the group were all friendly and welcoming and the environment was lovely. "

Hazel reviewed: Seascapes - One day free motion machine embroidery workshop

"A lovely relaxing day. Alison is an excellent tutor. The workshop is bright and airy with lots of fabric/materials to help make up your piece for the day. Bring your own lunch and there is a microwave available as well. Will be looking to book another soon! "
