About the Course
This one day workshop looks at the building blocks of drawing. It will give you the important skills and overall confidence to draw and is a step to helping you to ‘see and record’. The workshop will be run by Max Hale.
In this workshop you will learn:-
The materials of drawing, different kinds of pencils, charcoal, pens and discover which paper/mark making combinations give the best result for the subjects you wish to draw.
Useful and foolproof methods of understanding your subject – how to measure, obtain correct proportion, shape, form and & ‘subject relativity’ to ensure accurate results, giving a strong launch pad to create life like drawings. This skill is transferable to any art project in the future too.
The sessions will show you how to create and explore shapes to assist in the construction of your drawing. How to study the subject for best results and plan the final piece. Several different subjects will be tackled as confidence grows.
Finally how to use shading and tone in relation to the subject and medium in use.
All abilities welcome
The post-impressionist's mark making and bold handling of colour that gave such vibrant results has influenced Max's work greatly. He is inspired and invigorated by the emotion present in their paintings. Max finds subject matter everywhere although people in all situations are his first choice.
Having spent so much time studying human form Max still relishes the struggle that a portrait or figure - whether in context or alone - demands.
