Over this weekend together, we’ll open to wildness, decay and compost within and without, as we explore the beautiful land of Hawkwood.
In developing our response to place, we will read writers from around the world and from different eras who are similarly inspired. We will explore what it is to co-create with others. This could include the wild beings we might encounter on our guided forays outdoors, and our ancestors stretching back into evolutionary time. With skilled guidance from Helen, we will attune our observations of the microcosmic, such as the organisms that work decay through winter’s nourishing darkness, and of the macrocosmic – the elemental forces that have shaped this place. All these experiences will provide material to develop our own unique wild voice in writing, whether in poetry or prose. Together we will also prune and craft our words to help them sing from the page.
For your writing adventures outdoors, please bring all that you might need to be comfortable, such as waterproof clothing, walking boots, warm layers, hat, a water bottle, daypack and your own sit mat/portable chair.
