This 8 week weaving course will be a great introduction to pattern weaving on a table loom.
I am currently offering an online version of the weaving course which will be live and interactive online - via Zoom. There will be 2 hours of tuition each week so a total of 16 hours of live online tuition.
We use both Rigid Heddle and traditional 4 shaft looms to experiment with a range of woven patterns.
Exploring a variety of different loom threading orders, you can weave Twill, Tabby, Basket and houndstooth, and make a range of sample fabrics in checks, stripes and diamond patterns.
This course will also cover all the basics of reading a pattern draft and the principles of creating a balanced cloth.
Classes are suited to small groups, so early booking is recommended.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 8 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
You will need to have access to your own loom, however if you live in Hertfordshire I have some Ashford Rigid Heddle looms available for hire during the course (free of charge, but fully refundable deposit required on booking).
As the course will be run online you will require access to Zoom and a a decent broadband internet connection.
You can order an optional Yarn pack for Weaving, contents detailed below, or simply use this as a guide to materials to gather for the workshops..
6x100g balls of 2ply yarn in a palette of 3 colours (2 of similar tone and 1 of opposite value eg. Lilac, pale aqua and orange)
Additional yarns for warp tests (50g balls) and a few textured yarns.(short lengths)
