About the Course
Join tutor Averil Otiv and learn all about soft basketry techniques. Learn to weave rushes and long leaves from your garden into a variety of useful containers. Garlic baskets, a glasses case, bread baskets and even waste paper bins from old style linen based OS maps are just a few ideas. Over the course of the day it will be possible to produce several containers, maybe 3 or 4 depending on your choice.
The materials used are satisfyingly diverse with many found in our gardens - sweet corn husks, leaves from iris, day lilies, rushes, red hot pokers among others.. A lovely relaxing, productive and 'in touch with nature' day.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Welcome drinks : fresh coffee & home made biscuits, a lovely 2 course Aga lunch served in our farmhouse kitchen or outside in the Greystoke Cycle Cafe Tea Garden as soon as it's warm enough. To finish off the day, a freshly made Cream Tea (including Aga-baked scones, cream and jam).

Our days are considered special treats; many come back time and time again and often combine it with a short break to the Lake District.
We have been hosting and organising 'Quirky Workshops' since 2005 from our friendly family run Cycle Cafe Tea Garden on the northern fringes of the Lake District. All our tutors are carefully hand selected experts and professionals and many considered as leading nationally in their field.
If you wish to be added to our database, please use the 'Stay in Touch' icon at the top of each page on OUR WEBSITE (link above). Many of our early courses get booked up for Christmas presents.
