SOLD OUT - Wisteria Window in Line and Watercolour Wash

SOLD OUT - Wisteria Window in Line and Watercolour Wash

Using ink lines along with watercolour in a painting is a lovely technique as linework provides a structure to a picture while loose watercolour washes add vibrancy and colour. We will be painting the window of a French Chateau using waterproof pens first, to put down the main drawing and then painting loose colourful watercolour washes on top and finally putting in extra details in pen again at the end.

What to bring:

Please bring along any watercolour equipment that you already have.

WATERCOLOUR PAINTS (either tubes or pans)

Suggested basic colours:

cobalt blue

cerulean blue

ultramarine blue

lemon yellow

cadmium yellow

cadmium red

alizarin crimson

naples yellow

burnt sienna or sepia

perylene violet

cobalt violet

opera Rose

Optional Colours: Shell pink, Lavender (Holbein)

Waterproof pen – Any pens that are waterproof are fine but I use Uni Pin Fie line pens – a 0.2 and a 0.5 size.

Board - to support your paper

Brushes - Sable watercolour brushes are best but pricey, so I use a lot of synthetics these days as the quality is so much better than it used to be. The lower price means that you can afford to buy more sizes.

Suggested brushes:

Bring along what you have, but if you would like guidance on what to buy here are my suggestions:

SAA Silver all rounder brush size 10, or Ken Bromley Artists’ Value Round Profile Brush size 12

SAA Silver flatmate brush 0.5inch

Plastic palette with deep wells for watercolour

Water spray bottle

2b and 6b pencil and rubber

Masking tape

Refunds are not available on this booking. Start dates may be amended on request.
