Willow Weaving – Colourful Harvest Basket

X

Description

A two day course (Friday 28th February to Saturday 1st March 2025). Make a beautifully coloured harvest basket ideal for using in the vegetable garden. Great for flinging those runner and broad beans in from a distance. You can choose to make this harvest basket with a round or oval base and with rope handles or finger holes. There will be a good opportunity to explore the natural willow colours. You will learn traditional basket making skills, using a variety of prepared basketry willow plus some grown at Denmark Farm Conservation Centre on the wetland system to add colour and texture. This harvest basket workshop is suitable for beginners and also those who have some previous basketry experience and would now like to focus on adding colour and texture. We also have a willow weaving workshop running on Tuesday 25th February which is suitable for beginners. All tools and materials provided. If you have your own basketry tools, please bring them along. Please wear warm old clothing. Tutor: Jane Welsh Jane is our guest tutor from Devon, usually visiting West Wales to teach at Denmark Farm twice a year. Jane is a very skilled basket maker and attentive teacher. Her knowledge and love of willow is inspiring.
