About the Course
Pip Cottage willow workshops range from obelisks and sculpture for the garden, to bird nests and feeders, living willow construction and traditional English basket making.
Sunday August 5th will be at Park View 4U in Lytham to weave a willow basket using traditional English techniques that can be used as a pot holder, hanging basket or small basket with handle...... running from 9am to 5pm. I will demonstrate how to make the objects step by step and the workshop is suitable for beginners or the more experienced. Class numbers are small and relaxed so that everyone gains the skills to successfully make their own handcrafted woven objects.
I have been teaching natural gardening and crafts for over 13 years and basketmaking since 2012 for various environmental organisations and more recently for my own business Pip Cottage. I was lucky enough to win a Heritage Crafts Association/NADFAS Award in 2016 to study traditional English Basketmaking and will be passing these skills on at the workshops.
The workshops are run at Haworth Art Gallery, an Arts And Crafts building in Accrington that houses a large collection of Tiffany glass, Cronkshaw Fold Farm, a rural educational farm set in Helmshore and Park View 4U Ecopod at Queen Elizabeth II playing fields in Lytham, a bright and spacious green build set in an award winning park with community cafe.
