This is a one-to-one whistlestop tour of woodcarving which I tend to modify to what the student wants to achieve by attending the course. Each student has different goals and some of you come with some experience already and some with none.
Usually we start off with a tour of my woodcarving tools and their particular uses followed by a brief instruction on sharpening tools (but I'm afraid you will have to practice once back at home). Then we proceed to the carving which is generally a leaf of which there is a sampler to copy unless, of course, you have a different project in mind.
Before the course starts there is generally an exchange of messages so that I can make sure I know what you want to achieve from these two days with me.... and what you like (or not) to eat.
Once the carving has begun, I will be by your side to guide and demonstrate if necessary and make the coffee and offer you biscuits. I advise you to dress in warm and sensible clothes (definitely no strappy sandals) and it is very important that you follow the rules of the classroom.
***Please Note: At the moment all classes will take place outside for safe social distancing which is why I will not start teaching until May when the weather is warmer.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
An oak blank and the use of a carved leaf sampler is included. Use of the carving tools in the studio. A list of tools, a list of books you might like to read and a list of suppliers.
And a couple of sandwich lunches - most important.
