Spend a day exploring wet felt resist techniques for both 2D and 3D fibre art.
We will be creating a complex resist for you to set into layers of fibres during the felting process. When you reveal the areas of the resist at the end of the felting process, the layers of felt colour will be exposed and textures revealed, and so your resist pattern will emerge.
We will also create book resists which you will use to construct a vessel or fibre art object. This is a truly amazing technique for creating 3D shapes and, along with the shaping of the felt during the process, opens a world of possibilities as a technique for wet felted fibre art.
Embellishments such as beads can also be sewn on my hand or embroidery stitched to add texture and details, although this will most likely need to be added after the Workshop so we can focus on the wet felting techniques during this session.
This is a truly creative felt-making day, suitable for people who have a small amount of wet felting experience. (We have introductory workshops for the fundamentals of wet felting - please ask if you are unsure which workshop would be the most suitable for you to attend).
This class is suitable for adults in a group of 4 (maximum)
Price includes all the materials to make a 2D complex resist project piece plus a book resist 3D vessel or fibre art object.
Everything you need for this workshop will be supplied except an apron which you may like to bring or please wear clothes suitable for crafting.
Wet-felting can be quite physically hard work so help is always available if you should need or want some extra oomph! and we adapt how we work to be fully inclusive.
You may want to do more work on finishing your fibre art felt pieces after the workshop.
Hot and cold drinks are available throughout the session. Please bring lunch, snacks and any other refreshments which you would like.
Buying as a gift? Want to buy for a special occasion and would like help making the day even more special? Can't see a suitable date? Please click the 'Chat with the Maker' button - always happy to help!
WORKSHOP NOTES (regarding changes from 19th July 2021)
* 4 People max for Workshops (I have no plans to increase the numbers of people attending workshops for the foreseeable future)

* Well ventilated, clean Workshop (as ever!)
* Hand Sanitiser (please continue to use it frequently)

We encourage everyone to continue to respect other people's space.
You are very welcome to wear a mask or face covering at any time during your visit to the Workshop (there is absolutely no need to feel uncomfortable about wanting to wear a facemask). I will be wearing one whenever I feel it is necessary or am required/requested to do so.
You are not required to wear a facemask while you are crafting but please still bring a mask with you as you may be required to wear one in retail spaces and public spaces such as the general toilet area and shared space such as the corridor to the Workshop (we are waiting for more clarification over the next few days).
If you have any concerns or questions about attending Workshops with the restrictions lifted, please let me know and we will work together to make sure that you are confident that you can craft safely in the Workshop.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
Price includes all the materials and equipment needed to make your projects during the Workshop.
You may like to bring an apron or please wear clothes suitable for crafting.
